Where the road ends and the mountains begin, that is where you find Ankarede. Ankarede has been a meeting place for generations and is a traditional gathering place for the Sami. There are various buildings, such as goahtis, horreos and church cottages. An annual christmas market is held in Ankarede during the first weekend in December, with concerts in the chapel, and people gather there every Midsummer for a three-day festive weekend with all kinds of activities.
After walking along the Hällingså river flowing through the magical ancient forest, we reach the mighty waterfall at the end of the canyon with it's 50-metre high cliff edges. There is also a car park close to the actual waterfall, but we highly recommend the walk upstream to get a better experience of the unique nature reserve.
There are all kinds of fishing environments and species in Frostviken. Streams, tarns in the mountains and forests, lakes, rivers. Trout, char, grayling, whitefish, perch and pike. There are easily accessible fishing waters close to the highway, and plenty more further into the wilderness. There are fishing waters for every kind of fishing enthusiast here.
